Putt-Putt Playa is a 2007 Burning Man recreational destination. The camp’s preeminent installation will be a vintage miniature golf course that has been rescued from a neglected death in the wilds of Wisconsin to be reborn as metaphoric exploration of one’s necessity to be harmonious with nature in Black Rock City. Putt-Putt Playa aims to engage players in a game that twists and turns through a course celebrating the Green Man’s themes and visions of an ecologically minded populace.

Putt-Putt Playa is a microcosm of the Burning Man experience. The ingenuity of large scale production meets the uniqueness of individually driven pieces; the course landscape weaves unique installations into a fully integrative 9 1/2 holes. The metaphoric and physical heart of the camp is the central Public House where the weary can rest tired feet, spin a yarn, and enjoy an ice cold beverage. Each hole in the miniature golf course will be adopted by groups and/or individuals in the camp who customize it to match their individual insights and ideals of the Green Man. This concept will grow as we invite Burners to build their own elements and/or add to installations with provided materials.
